The extended weekend of 07 November to 11 November 2007 was a joint reunion for members of both VMF-122 and VMF-235 who served with Craig Ingham from late 1960 to mid 1964. Hopefully, it will grow to include other years or units.
Wednesday (Nov. 7) was check-in day. Robin was at the Microtel Motel at 1600 in the central meeting room to pass out agenda, maps, and information. The turnout included Ed Bayley, Charles Griffin, Bill Singer (John W.), Jack Brittain, Elmer Rogers, Robin Brewton, James Sharman, and Craig Ingham. Dinner was at the Cracker Barrel.
Thursday (Nov. 8) everyone met at Robin's house at 0830 for coffee and doughnuts, then 0930 to NAS Pensacola, Naval Aviation Museum. Lunch was in museum at Cubi Point Cafe (the actual bar from Cubi Point is here). Tom O’Rorke and Stoney Mayock joined the group for lunch.
Dinner Thursday night was at McGuire's Irish Pub in Pensacola. Tom and Jim Harrison and Jim’s friend Sharrie Kelly joined us. We had an excellent private dining room and we could all hear (the Pub is noisy). Everyone’s meal was outstanding.
Tom encouraged all hands to try making the MCAA symposium and VMF-235 gathering at Myrtle Beach next fall. The Squadron’s mini-gathering on a January cruise will also be a great get-together and Tom invited all who could fit it into their plans, to sign up. Info is on the Home Page.
Friday (Nov. 9) all hands met at Robin's house at 0800 (or so) then departed for the Blue Angels Air Show. As usual, it was a great show and the weather was perfect.
Friday we dined at The Oyster Bar on Perdido Key. Once again, an excellent choice. A large table on the porch overlooking the intracoastal accommodated the entire group. Jim and Tom joined us once again.
Saturday (Nov. 10) all met at Robin's house for a cookout, fun and fellowship.
Sunday (Nov. 11) it was breakfast at the Waffle House prior to departure.
The weekend was a grand success. Robin and Craig did an outstanding job putting it together. We got the Corps’ Birthday, Veteran’s Day and the air show, all in one. Our thanks men.
